Tax-reduction advice from a pro

Avoiding overpayment at tax time is the ultimate low-hanging fruit. If you know how to do it, there’s no reason not to — it’s like free money. The problem is, most people don’t know how to go about legally reducing their taxes.

Sandy Botkin is president of the Tax Reduction Institute, a CPA and a former IRS attorney. He now teaches seminars that have saved taxpayers more  than $300 miilion — and he was our guest on a recent call.

He shared some great advice on how to cut your taxes and keep more of your money, and we’re going to share it with you in this week’s OneCoach Momentum Call.

What’s more beneficial to your business than tax planning? Almost nothing. So register for this call now. It airs Thursday, Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. Pacific; Saturday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. Pacific; and Sunday, Feb. 3 at 5 p.m. Pacific.

How to gain traction in ‘08

Success in business doesn’t happen all at once - it’s a journey. So if you’re running your own business, the question that really matters is, are you accelerating to where you want to be? Or are you spinning your wheels?

Whether you have traction or not, there’s always more to learn. That’s why last month we assembled a panel of OneCoach members who had each just finished a breakthrough year. OneCoach founders John Assaraf and Murray Smith talked with them about their biggest takeaways from 2007 for a free weekly event we call the OneCoach Momentum Call.

This particular call was very well received, so we’re going to replay it this Thursday, Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. Pacific, and again on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. Pacific; and Sunday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m. Pacific.

It’s worth listening when other small business owners talk about what’s worked well for them.

Register now to pick up some practical business-building tips that will help you create a business breakthrough in 2008.

You are a genius!

Odds are you don’t consider yourself one, but when you look up “genius” in the American Heritage Dictionary (where, believe it or not, it does not have a picture of Steve Jobs), it says this:

1a. Extraordinary intellectual and creative power. b. A person of extraordinary intellect and talent: “One is not born a genius, one becomes a genius” (Simone de Beauvoir).

There’s more, but that’s the gist of it. So why do we refer to genius as this rare thing, found once in a while in eminent physicists (and sometimes NFL coaches)? In truth, doesn’t every one of us have some “extraordinary creative power”?

Think about it… you definitely do. Maybe you have a knack for connecting with people and putting them at ease. It could be your ability to perceive opportunities where others see problems. Or your  keen eye for color and design. Or your capacity to combine common ingredients into a recipe that’s original and exceptional.

Admit it, you have a gift. It’s something you’re freakishly good at, you care  passionately about, and have probably taken for granted.

Did you see John Assaraf on The Big Idea?

Donny Deutsch has built his CNBC show, The Big Idea, around the question of what makes some people more successful than others.

So it was only a matter of time before OneCoach Founder John Assaraf was going to show up — and last night he did. In a quick segment at the end of the show, John gave his five rules for how to become a business millionaire, then he took questions from callers.

The sum of John’s five rules is this: You have to start thinking like a millionaire before you can become one. And right now you can gain rare insight into the millionaire mindset with some complimentary resources at OneCoach.com.  There’s an audio recording as well as the transcript of a conversation John had with five multimillionaires, including OneCoach Founder Murray Smith.

If you believe in learning from winners, check it out. You’ll get an intimate look at the thought processes of six guys who have made it to the top, and are sharing their best advice about how they got there.  It will will help you get a great start to 2008.

To your success!

This is the story of OneCoach

“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds; your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world.”                                                                                     —Patanjali

Every business tells a story.

It might begin as a sketch on a napkin. It could be passed down through generations, or purchased as franchise. Regardless of how it starts, a small business embodies deeply held hopes and aspirations – it is the great purpose and extraordinary project of its owner.

Highs and lows, setbacks and disappointments, reversals and triumphs are part of the growth of the business. And when that business finally succeeds, it disproves the critics and the doubters.

What about a business that falls short of its owner’s ideal? It’s hard to give up on your dream. But something has to change if that business is to reach its potential. And you cannot change the business without changing what the owner believes to be possible.

This is what we do. Read the rest of this entry »
